HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The song, Auld Lang Syne, with words by the Scottish poet, Robert Burns, is traditionally sung in Britain at New Year. The words are in Scottish dialect and mean that we should remember times gone by and old friends during this season.

Here politicians of all parties in the Scottish Parliament join hands to sing Auld Lang Syne:

These are the words of the first verse and chorus:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
